How to get the most out of your Kayben field trip:
1. What to wear & bring:
Most of the tours and activities are conducted outside. There is uneven footing and depending on recent weather conditions, the ground can become muddy in areas. It is important to wear sturdy, water resistant footwear, and dress for the weather. Please have your students bring their own water bottles if desired, we do not have drinking water available for groups.
- Role of Kayben Farms tour guides: We are here as a support to the teaching that you are already doing, by sharing our expertise and real-life applications of your students’ classroom learning.
- Role of students: Students are expected to be respectful of staff and the physical surroundings. It is especially important that students respect staff directions, as they will be around sensitive and fragile plants, as well as living animals.
- Role of adult chaperones: Adult chaperones play a necessary and valuable role in helping students to focus on the tour and follow directions of Kayben staff.
3. Cancellation policy:
Most activities are outdoors and are best experienced in good weather. You are asked to watch the weather forecast for a couple of days before your field trip date. If the forecast calls for poor weather, and you choose to cancel, we ask for a minimum 24 hours notice. If you cancel, your deposit will be held so that you can rebook. If you do not contact us and choose not to come out, your deposit will not be refunded.
The cost is $9 per child ($12 for the Pumpkin Discovery Tour), based on a minimum 16 children. The minimum charge is $140 per group. No charge for teachers and chaperones. There is an additional charge of $3 per participant for either the planting or pumpkin activity (seasonal). A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for group bookings. The balance of the payment must be received at the farm on the day of the field trip or within 7 days by school cheque.
5. Arrival at Kayben:
